Website Exclusive - 8th Haslemere Classic Car Show and Tour
2016 marks the 8th Haslemere Classic Car Show and Tour. This popular community event is growing in status every year and is rapidly becoming a 'must do' in the classic car calendar.
Taking place on Sunday 29 May at Lion Green, Haslemere, Surrey GU27 1LD and will be a day filled with stunning pre-75 classics and vintage entertainment for all the family.
The show is run as part of the Haslemere Festival, a charity which hosts lots of community events in Haslemere. The show is organised by James Ewing, a Haslemere based classic car restorer and broker and is supported by many local business' and individuals including Keats Estate Agents.
James told CMM: "The ever popular 'Tour' takes place in the morning when nearly 100 cars from the early 1900's to 1976 meet on the green for breakfast before leaving for a route round the beautiful local countryside. The tour follows simple tulip navigation and has a rest stop before the cars return between noon and 1pm for the start of the show, at the time of writing the tour is practically full. The Tour cars will be joined by lots more pre-booked classics exhibiting at the afternoon show, creating a great sight lined up on the green. The event is open to all pre-1976 vehicles from turn of the century veterans, vintage sportscars, post war family classics, competition cars to early 70's supercars and we expect entries from most of the major marques. Many of the cars taking part will be 'affordable' classics but we always have a good selection of unique and special vehicles.
"Crews are encouraged to dress in period outfits to match their cars and are eligible for the 'best dressed car and driver' award. The public also vote for the car they would most like to take home in the 'People's Choice' competition. Our sponsors will donate some great prizes for the well deserved winners.
During the afternoon, the Green is host to a traditional vintage style fete with a jazz band, children's activities, food, bar and the WI will serve cream teas. The green will be lined with quality stalls selling local produce, crafts, art, vintage and classic car products so visitors will have the opportunity to shop till they drop!
"Our popular HCCS Bake-off cake competition is back for the forth year. There are classes for adults and children with the sole judging criteria being that they look good and taste good. The competition is free to enter but entrants are asked to donate their cakes to sell to raise funds for the event. Kenwood have generously donated a K-mix stand mixer as the adult first prize.
"The HCCS is very popular within the local community and attracts visitors from all over Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire as well as further afield. Entrance for the public is FREE, but visitors are asked to buy a copy of our full colour professionally produced lucky programme for £1 listing the cars on display to support the show, with a chance to win lots of prizes too.
"More information are details of how to enter is available on our recently launched new website at: www.jamesewing.co.uk/hccs or email [email protected]"
